Armed Robbery in Whittier

  • On 1/8/08, a woman, whose name was not released, called police about 12:45 a.m. to the 2200 block of E. Palace Green Terrace, near Yellow Springs Road. She told police that a man pointed a gun at her and demanded money. The woman said the man was wearing blue jeans, a black hooded sweatshirt and a ski mask, and was about 5 feet 8 inches tall. The man took an undisclosed amount of money and ran away, police said. A car was seen leaving the area about the same time, but police do not know whether the car was involved in the robbery.
  • He did have what appeared to be a handgun, but based on statements it likely was a toy gun or Airsoft gun. The suspect fled on foot between buildings and it is believed he got in a car and fled. Hard to say at this point if it is a local kid or someone who came from outside the neighborhood.
