Citizens are reminded of their responsibility to clear sidewalks from snow and ice according to Section 22-16 of the City of Frederick, Maryland Code, Titled, Removal of Snow and Ice From Sidewalks. All owners or person in possession of any land or premises situated on any street within the city, where sidewalks are laid, is responsible for the removal of snow and ice from the entire length of the walk and for a width of at least (4) feet. This must be completed within six (6) hours after it has stopped falling and drifting. If snow or ice has fallen between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., it must be removed before l:00 p.m..

It was determined after Whittier’s plats were pulled that ALL TOWNHOMES AND SINGLE FAMILY HOMEOWNERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL MAINTENANCE (i.e. snow clearing, sweeping, repairing, removing debris, etc). OF THEIR SIDEWALKS FROM THEIR FRONT DOOR TO THE CURB (THIS INCLUDES THE COMMON SIDEWALK DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF YOUR HOME WITHIN YOUR PROPERTY BOUNDARIES, GRASSY STRIP BETWEEN THE COMMON SIDEWALK AND CURB WITHIN YOUR PROPERTY BOUNDARIES).

Classic Landscaping removes snow only from HOA owned sidewalks that are not directly in front of a residential home within their property boundaries and the concrete mailbox pads.

The City of Frederick removes snow and maintains all City streets within Whittier.

In addition to the above underlined, Town house residents are responsible for removing snow from their assigned parking spaces.
